Succession is meant to be a return to familiarity for a character, allowing them to become more proficient with a class' base toolkit. Players shouldn't expect to get many new options or skills with the Succession tree, but that is the point of choosing Succession over Awakening. Succession also has a pretty hefty discount on the number of skill points needed to progress through its tree. At one point, the Succession skills actually out-performed Awakening skills in terms of damage, though it appears that Succession skill trees were nerfed to keep both options fairly balanced. Players can expect a class' Succession tree to function fairly similarly to their base skill tree, just with a significant boost in power. The Succession skill tree tends to provide more consistency in exchange for fewer new abilities. These core skills were added in a later patch to Black Desert Online and seemed to address a difference in power between Awakening and Succession trees. There are also core skills that players can unlock once they reach level 60, acting as the Awakening tree's version of each class's absolute skills. Once players complete the Awakening quest given by their Black Spirit, they'll be rewarded with a blue-grade Awakened class weapon. Awakening does have a few benefits that the Succession trees lack, however, including a special Awakening weapon.
